So what is the Transpersonal in Transpersonal Counselling?
“Transpersonal” is a term associated with the Human Potential Movement of philosophy and psychology that includes all states of consciousness and phenomena in the continuum of each person’s evolving experience. It is not only concerned with the personality of an individual but incorporates spiritual experiences, non-ordinary states of awareness, intuition, mystical and somatic experiences as being equally valid in supporting an individual’s purposeful living. Transpersonal counselling takes a compassionate and inclusive approach to what it means to experience our humanity as whole and well.
If you browse elsewhere on this website you can learn all about me as a coach, working exclusively with women, you can read what women who work with me have said here and here. That is all working beautifully so why add Transpersonal Counselling to the mix? Well…
I have been inquiring into my own personal potential for over 30 years and it has been a dance between intimately understanding myself from my past experiences and how they have informed me, as well as learning to be in the driver’s seat of my life moving forward. I have come to a place in my life where I see the benefit of the waltz between many different modalities and explorations. I have used the quality of coaching to support me in creating amazing results and I have used the qualities of counseling and therapies to develop my compassion and my peace. As I grow older I find internally that these different orientations, and all the modalities in those different orientations, have formed a soup of compassionate presencing in my life.
I love the exploration and expansion that comes from both orientations: counseling and coaching. I love the peace of unfurling my concerns and challenges even if the process is hard. I love supporting women in inquiring into the mechanics of why they do what they do, understanding what it is they are experiencing and finding a path through to light and freedom in stressful and troubling times including anxiety, stress, trauma, and loss.
I also love supporting women using Somatic Alchemy based on Jungian and Hermetic principals in a future directed way to create things, experiences, and outcomes that she desires. You can learn more about that here.
Allow yourself to have the full duration of your session to be your time so that you are present with yourself and what unfurls. If the session is via online video conference, put yourself into a private space where you can be with yourself uninterrupted. If you are coming to the counseling rooms then please arrive with time to park your car and rest with a glass of water before our session. You do not need to bring a pen or paper but some people like to take time to journal what they have discovered after the session. I invite you to take a bit of time to ground yourself immediately afterward by having a slow walk, drinking some water and just being with yourself. This is so much more enriching than rushing off to the next thing with no time to integrate fully what is available from what you have just experienced.
We can meet via online video conference or phone
One area that I am highly trained in is Financial Therapy and Money Coaching. I am very passionate about supporting women to be financially empowered. Financial Therapy is an emerging field interested in the evaluation and treatment of cognitive, emotional, behavioural, relational, and economic aspects of financial health { this is different to Financial Counselling which is a term used to describe a person who works as an intermediary between you and banks and other institutes to help you with debt }. Financial Therapy works to integrate the interpersonal and intrapersonal aspects of financial well-being.
I am also highly trained in Holotropic Breathwork with 30 years experience both personally and professionally trained by some of Australia’s leading therapists. Holotropic Breathwork, also known as Rebirthing, is a powerful approach to self-exploration and personal empowerment that relies on our innate inner wisdom and its capacity to move us toward positive transformation and wholeness.
The name Holotropic means literally “moving toward wholeness” (from the Greek “holos”, meaning whole and “trepein”, meaning moving in the direction of something).
